CoVMass - Testing at ETH Zürich

From Idea to Prototype

dispenser

Within 33 hours during a Hackathon a team of 15 ETH engineers created a first prototype of a fully automatic and touch free system to enable mass testing of COVID-19. The system consists of a Dispenser, which gives out the test kit to a customer after scanning their ETH card. The test kit needs to be cooled while being stored inside the Dispenser. After the self-test is done, the kit can be returned to the Collector. The COVID-19 test is put in a sample rack that fits the pooling machine at the Nexus Personalized Health Technologies Lab at ETH Zürich. This Hackathon was the kickstart for the product development process that is ongoing as part of the CovMass initiative at ETH Zürich. Find below impressions of the Hackathon.
